24th Annual Americana World Festival!

The 24th annual Americana World Festival:

“Where Louisville Meets the World”℠ is a multicultural celebration held each summer.

The Americana Community Center would like to thank each and every one of you for making this a memorable year!

This year we had amazing performances by The Monarchs, Appalatin, Swing ’39, Keltricity, Alma Gitana,The Afrophysicists, Patrick Stanley, Misha Feigin, Hot Brown Smackdown, Sipan, Flamenco Louisville, Louisville Old Time Square Association, Bhutanese Nepali Dancers, Ruric-Amari & Samovar Dance Co., and Al Hamsa Belly Dance.

The food vendors provided us with delicious food from all over the world. The craft vendors sold unique and lovely trinkets, instruments, housewares, and jewelry. Our community partners supplied attendees with very useful information about services they offer.  Lastly, I would like to thank the many volunteers who gave up their Saturday to help set up, take down, and work in the Kids Zone. The 24th Americana World Festival would not have been the same without all of you there, so thank you!

And thank you to Art Hoffman for putting together this lovely video of the festival. Enjoy!

Americana World Festival

Louisville, KY. April 07, 2014 – The twenty-fourth annual Americana World Festival: “Where Louisville Meets the World”℠ will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Americana World Festival is a free, family-oriented event that brings together members of the local community to share and celebrate the cultural heritages of the Louisville Metro community and the neighborhoods surrounding Americana Community Center.

Each year, festival-goers enjoy a full day of performances, food, and fun. Entertainment this year will include local favorites Appalatin,  and the The Monarchs. A Kids Zone will feature activities for children, such as face-painting, arts and crafts and games until 7 p.m. A variety of food and beverages will be sold by on-site vendors. International crafts and other goods will be available for purchase from local artists and vendors. Several community organizations and nonprofits will also be on-hand, as a service to the public. There will also be a raffle for a GRAND PRIZE of $1,500 cash. Raffle tickets cost $1 each and can be purchased in advance at participating ValuMarket locations and at the festival on the day of the event at the Americana booth. You do not need to be present to win.

In 2012, over 6,000 community members attended Americana World Festival, which has become an integral part of the international community’s experience in Louisville. Americana Community Center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that works with individuals and families from 96 different countries of origin and 36 Louisville Metro zip codes.

Americana Executive Director Edgardo Mansilla notes, “We are very happy to fulfill our commitment to work with the international and local community, providing a place where people can build relationships and connections from all over the globe. This is what makes our hometown a first-class city. We completely agree with Mayor Greg Fischer when he says that in order to be successful Louisville must embrace the international community.”
