The Creative Arts Program benefits youth through opportunities for the development of a healthy multi-cultural identity, for self-expression, for exploring interests and talents, and for therapeutic practices, especially in response to increased bullying and harassment that our youth have faced recently.
This year-round program has helped youth who are shy or closed off come out of their shell in art classes and students have attended special arts programs – including the Youth Performing Arts School – for arts they first explored at Americana. The youth in our programs succeed academically as well: 100% of high school seniors graduated and enrolled in college for the fourth consecutive year and youth had an average school attendance rate of almost 98% last year.
Your support will expand creative arts opportunities for more than 250 refugee, immigrant, and underserved children at Americana and will help them realize their individual potential.
Here’s a glimpse into some of the creative arts happening around Americana.

Americana Community Center provides holistic services for the refugee, immigrant, and low-income residents of Metro Louisville. These services enable youth, adults, and families to discover and utilize resources to bridge the gap from surviving to thriving.
A huge thank you to everyone who volunteered and donated gifts to our young participants! A special thank you to Whip Mix and the Brown-Forman Corporation.
The Americana Community Center is extremely grateful for your generous donations of gifts for the Winter Festival!
With all that is happening both nationally and globally it has never been more important to provide a safe, healthy, and productive environment for refugee and immigrant families. This includes time for celebration. During the Winter Festival we had hundreds of families come to the center for cookie decorating, crafts, sweets, singing, family portraits, and toys for the younger participants.
An older participant told us that she would look forward to the Winter Festival all year and would stay up at night thinking of the toy she would receive. It may seem like a small gesture to us, but your gift may be remembered for years.
Again, thank you, from the staff, volunteers, and our program participants.
