Dreaming in Color Art Exhibit

Dreaming in Color is an opportunity to encourage and support the immigrant, refugee, and underserved young people who participate in Americana’s Youth Program. They have been creating art, writing poetry, and preparing music for months and we’d like to show off their endless talent. Stop by for just a moment or stick around to see the show. Everyone is welcome. Better yet, we hope everyone will be there.

DESCRIPTION

All donations will be given directly to Americana’s Summer Program, 7 weeks of education and enrichment activities during the summer for our young participants (K-12th grade). This program is free for more than 200 refugee and immigrant children where they are provided with three meals a day, educational workshops, English classes, and field trips.

There are more than 300 children enrolled in the Youth and Family Education Programs. They represent 20 countries, 15 zip codes, and 13 grades. And they all have a story. Are you listening?

Dooors open at 6:00PM. Performances will begin at 7:00PM. Hors d’oeuvres will be served from Common Table, a culinary training program through Catholic Charities. The event is free, but please note there will be a cash bar. Parking will be available behind the building.

Annual Winter Festival

Americana’s 25th annual Winter Festival is a special evening for the families of Americana to get family portraits, play games, decorate cookies, and visit Santa. Over 300 children and their families will be part of this event on Friday, December 16th from 5:00pm-8:00pm, and we need your help!

A Garden Party

You’re invited to a Garden Party! Join us Thursday, October 27th from 6:30pm – 8:30pm in Americana’s community garden. Learn about Americana’s community garden, meet some of our refugee and immigrant families, discover international ingredients and how to cook with them, and practice saving seeds.

There will be interesting snacks, music, and tours of Americana. We’re asking for a $10 suggested donation at the door to support the program. This event is family friendly and kids are free.

The Americana Community Garden consists of family plots where immigrants and refugees are empowered to grow food for themselves and their community. There is also a Children’s Garden where youth in Americana’s After School Program can get their hands dirty while learning about nutrition and environmental sustainability.

We are happy to announce that Americana, in partnership with RAPP (Refugee Agricultural Partnership Program), has plans to expand to a further acre of land onsite, providing growing space for over 100 more families!

All proceeds from this event will support Americana’s Community Garden program and will help us make this expansion possible!

Americana Community Center provides holistic services for the refugee, immigrant, and low-income residents of Metro Louisville. These services enable youth, adults, and families to discover and utilize resources to bridge the gap from surviving to thriving.

Run the World 5K to Support Americana’s Summer Youth Program

Get out and run our annual Run the World 5K fun run/walk at dusk to support Americana Community Center! This dusk run will be on Saturday, June 4th, 2016 at 7:30pm during the Americana World Festival. The race is timed and will be on an open course through Iroquois Park.

The Americana World Festival celebrates cultures from around the world – and across the Bluegrass – with live music, local and international cuisine, uncommon goods, crafts and more. The festival kicks off at 1pm and will go until 10pm. Come enjoy the fun before the race and join the German American Club in a post-race gathering in the Biergarten.

Race Info 

$30 registration until race day, $35 on the day of the race. Groups of 5+ can register for $25/person. Registration includes: Americana World Festival t-shirt, a beer ticket for ages 21+, prizes for top finishers, snacks and water at the finish line. Packet pick-up will take place the day of the race beginning at 1pm. Parking is available at Iroquois Park.

Support Americana’s Summer Youth Program

All proceeds support Americana Community Center’s Summer Youth Program, providing fun and engaging activities for 7 weeks during the summer to more than 200 refugee and immigrant youth to prevent summer learning loss. It costs $290 for us to provide programming to one child. Last year, there were over 50 youth on the waiting list. You can help get kids off the waiting list and into the program by registering for the race and sharing with friends and family.

26th Annual Americana World Festival

Join us for the 26th Annual Americana World Festival on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Iroquois Amphitheater from 1pm to 10pm!

Once a year, Americana Community Center brings everyone together to help celebrate the diversity and compassion of Louisville at the Americana World Festival. This festival will celebrate heritages from around the world – and across the Bluegrass – with live music, local and international cuisine, goods, crafts and more.

The festival is a free, family-oriented event that features a 5K Run/Walk, international performances, diverse cuisines, community resources & vendors, and activities for children. This event celebrates the exciting multiculturalism that enriches the Louisville Metro area and is a unique opportunity to reach an array of potential clients.
