Tax season is approaching and we need your help! Training is provided.

Do you enjoy working with people, learning new skills and giving back to the diverse community of Louisville? If so, WE NEED YOU!

Volunteers are needed to help prepare tax returns for community members. In partnership with the Louisville Asset Building Coalition (LABC),  we remain committed to providing free tax filing services for the diverse community surrounding Americana. In previous years, Americana has saved participants thousands of dollars as a VITA tax site.

With your help, we can continue to do so! We are in need of tax preparers, greeters, intake assistants, and interpreters. Don’t worry, you don’t experience! Training and support will be offered to every volunteer.  Click here for training schedule, and if you find a time that works for you, please sign up here.

Our site will open for the tax season on January 29th! We will provide services on Fridays (5:00pm-8:00pm) and Saturdays  (9:00am-3:00pm).

If you are interested in volunteering, please complete the VITA Application and submit it to Courtney Smith at Americana Community Center or LABC.  Please contact Courtney Smith by email at courtney@americanacc.org  or phone at 502-366-7813 ext. 11 for more information.

Be a volunteer: Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)

Volunteer with VITA

Volunteers are needed to help prepare tax returns for community members. Americana Community Center is partnering with Louisville Asset Building Coalition (LABC) to be a VITA site, providing free tax filing services for the diverse community surrounding Americana. In previous years, our VITA site has saved participants thousands of dollars. Volunteers can help in a variety of ways: preparing taxes, greeting participants, helping fill out paperwork, and interpreting. No experience needed training and support will be offered to every volunteer! Volunteering with VITA is a good opportunity to work in a multicultural setting, help low-income families save money, learn valuable skills, and know you are making a difference!

The training schedule is below. Greeters and tax preparers need to attend one session, appropriate to their interest. We are in high need of interpreters because Americana works with participants from 98 different countries! It is not necessary that interpreters attend the training sessions, but it is strongly encouraged.

Our site will be open through the tax season beginning on January 31st on Saturdays 9am-3pm and Fridays 5pm-8pm. We ask that volunteers commit to 3-5 hours a week, but we are flexible!
