Family Coaching at Americana is part of the Gheens Foundation’s Bridges to Tomorrow program. The focus of the Bridges to Tomorrow program is to ensure children are prepared to succeed in school. Bridges to Tomorrow seeks to reach this goal by providing the best curriculum, the best teachers, and the best support for parents and other primary caretakers of children enrolled in one of our four Bridges to Tomorrow Centers, including the Americana Family Education program.
Coaching is a confidential, one-on-one relationship between families and a family coach designed to help foster positive change in a family’s life. Coaching is not therapy. A simple distinction between a therapist and coach is that a therapist will focus on helping you to heal from the past; while a coach operates from an understanding that you are ready, willing, and able to focus on the present and your future goals. Coaching is based on the belief that the family has the answers they need and the family coach is trained to support them in discovering these answers rather than simply providing answers. Having a family coach is like having a mirror to help you see your own potential and possibility. Coaching is all about supporting the family to take charge of their life in order to be fulfilled and successful.
Coaching is a critical element of the Bridges to Tomorrow program. Americana, as a Bridges to Tomorrow partner, has sponsored participating families so they may receive this valuable assistance at no cost.
Parents or primary-care givers of preschool-aged children (birth to 5 years) who are enrolled in Americana’s Family Education program are eligible for coaching and other services offered through Bridges to Tomorrow.
