Youth Programs

Americana’s youth programs are designed to provide children & teens in our community with diverse, meaningful opportunities for academic and personal development to ensure their success in school and life.

Our After School Program provides a safe and enriching environment for school age youth in the South Louisville area.

Our Summer Program runs annually through most of June and July. Programming includes English as a Second Language, arts & crafts, sports & recreation, field trips, and educational activities.

Right to Read is an incentive-based literacy program where participants are paired with reading tutors to develop reading, behavior, and attendance goals. Successes are rewarded with field trips and other incentives.

Much as in the rest of the world, soccer is very popular at Americana. In addition to soccer activites in other programs we often host various soccer clinics, camps, and intramural leagues & teams.

Basketball is also very popular with our children & teens and Americana often hosts open gym hours for the youths in our programs and boy’s & girl’s teams that play throughout the community in leagues and tournaments.

The Americana Arts Program provides a positive and supportive environment for children of all ages to express themselves, develop creative skills, and advance their personal development while having fun and building community with other children.

Throughout the year Americana and our community partners offer various extra curricular groups & activities that expand our youth’s experience, help build character, and develop leadership, social, and conflict resolution skills.
Americana and partners also hosts special events and experiences for teens, such as round table discussions, trips to the state legislature during session, and field trips to local events.

Youth programming could not be possible without quality partnerships including Jefferson County Public Schools ESL K-12; Dare to Care; South Louisville Community Ministries; Every1 Reads; Louisville Metro Office of Youth Development; Boy Scouts; Girl Scouts; Kentucky Center for the Arts; the Louisville Visual Arts Association; and many generous private citizens throughout the community.
